Mykola Tomenko: In spite of a Delay, the Parliament supported the Government´s Initiative concerning a Two-Time Reduction of Wages of the Public Authority Officials
Delivering a speech at the morning sitting of the Parliament, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, called on the entire system of authorities with a request to follow the Government´s example and reduce the wages by two times.
M.Tomenko reminded of the fact that the Resolution "On Measures to be taken to order certain Expenditures of the State Budget of Ukraine" was adopted on 3 March 2009. The Resolution envisaged a two-time reduction of the maximum rate of wages. 374 People´s Deputies endorsed the Resolution.
However, according to M.Tomenko, only the Government reduced the wages by two times, the wages of the public officials being decreased by 20 per cent.
M.Tomenko deems necessary to decrease the rate of wages of not only Government members and People´s Deputies, but also other high-ranking officials, including the leaders of the National Security and Defense Council, the President´s Secretariat, the State Administration Office.
"Under the conditions of the recession, all the representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial authorities should take such measures, instead of following the example of the National Bank leaders who increased their wages in the period of the crisis", - M.Tomenko stated.
316 People´s Deputies voted for the Resolution.
